Tree Pruning at The Beeches Apartments, Bowdon

The Beeches Apartments

The Beeches is a striking apartment development in Bowdon, surrounded by mature trees that form an important part of the landscape. Having worked here previously, we were invited back to carry out another programme of tree management, improving clearance around the buildings, garages and road while preserving the character of the site.

The largest part of the project centred on a mature beech tree beside the garages. We carefully reduced selected limbs away from the roof, lifted the canopy above the road and reshaped one side of the crown where it had begun extending over the communal lawns. Elsewhere, we crown lifted another mature beech to improve clearance above the car park and around a street light, reduced a mature willow that had become dominant over an outbuilding, and removed two poor-quality hollies as part of the overall management of the grounds.

The aim was to keep a collection of mature trees working well within a busy residential setting. By making measured reductions and selective crown lifting, we improved light, clearance and space around the buildings while preserving the mature character that gives The Beeches much of its appeal.
