Pollarding a Mature Sycamore
The tree had recently shed several large limbs and stood close to the public footpath alongside the River Mersey.
After discussing the options with the owner, we reduced it to a 5-metre habitat monolith at the main union.
Sometimes the safest outcome isn’t removing a tree completely. In this case, the risk was reduced while retaining the main stem as valuable habitat for woodpeckers, bats, insects and fungi.
